water activities
As Ajabu is situated right on the lake there is no shortage of water related activities such as boating, fishing and tubing. Guests can enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Lake Naivasha (where you can see some of the local wildlife which includes hippos, buffalo, fish eagles and pelicans) or fish at nearby 'Christmas Point' to name but a few options. We do not have the equipment to facilitate such activities on site Ajabu and therefore, we suggest that you either bring your own or we can give you a list of the best local contacts who can arrange these activities for you.
golf
The Rift Valley golf course is a lovely course and only 20 minutes’ drive from the house. You will need to pay fees at the pro shop, and then you can enjoy a round of golf with the zebras and wonderful views!
Please see www.heritage-eastafrica.com for more info.
wildlife
Ajabu house and its environs are part of the Loldia Conservation area for which conservation fees are charged. These are split between the different parts of the ‘Hopcraft’ families that make up the conservancy, which carries over 4000 head of wildlife including leopard, aardvark, buffalo, eland, bat eared foxes, hyenas, impalas, zebras and hippos. The garden has regular visitors including Vervet monkeys and Rock hyenas. Please do NOT feed them!
local attractions
Some of the most spectacular walks and tours are right on your door step when staying at Ajabu House. Guests can visit Hells Gate National Park, the green Crater Lake reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Elementaita, Soysambu Ranch or maybe climb Mount Longonot or Mount Eburru.
other activities
There is a tennis court on site (it is made with very loamy and light Naivasha soil mixed with Murram and molasses which means it is not perfect) which kids, friends and families can use to have fun hitting the ball around. You can also enjoy our beautiful gardens and birdwatch from the outdoor verandah. The bird life in the area is exceptional.
